Description

The poet Anne Sexton was inspired by Van Gogh’s painting, “Starry Night,” to write a poem by the same name; Picasso’s “The Man with the Blue Guitar” inspired Wallace Stevens to write a poem, also by the same name.  Many other poets have been inspired to write poetry based on works of art.  This is known as ekphrastic poetry. Join us as we examine the paintings of artists such as Pieter Breughel, Pablo Picasso, and Edward Hopper, as well as the poems that were inspired by them.
