Description
For nearly 3500 years Egypt reigned as one of the most magnificent ancient Empires and civilizations that has ever existed. This course will explore the ancient marvels along the Nile River from Alexandria (the Lower Nile) to the Temple of Abu Simbel 825 miles away (the Upper Nile) near the Sudan border. We will visit the ruins of underground Alexandria, the Cairo Museum of Antiquities, the Pyramids of Giza, the plethora of Temples along the Nile, the Valley of the Kings/Queens, Karnak, Aswan, and Abu Simbel. Topics of discussion will include recent discoveries, as well as King Tut’s discovery, mummification, and Egyptian religion.
