Description

Alaska is a pristine land with a wide diversity of unique landscapes and wildlife. Len will share firsthand experiences from his time studying the tundra and permafrost effect upon the environment and climate as a University of Alaska research assistant in 1986. He’ll touch on his time at Denali, Glacier Bay, and Kenai Fjords National Parks, his trip to Point Barrow and driving the Dalton Highway which is a remote 414-mile gravel road. You’ll learn about the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake (third largest quake on record at 9.2) and resulting tsunami, and the isolated Pribilof Islands. This is a fast-paced lecture for the avid traveler, hiker or individual curious about Alaska—the Great Frontier.
