Description
Did you know that engaging in poetry (reading, listening, and writing) not only supports our emotional health but also enhances cognitive functions? Found poetry is a specific form that uses existing texts, then changes them to create a new poem. In one type, the poet “blacks-out” certain lines, words, or phrases to fashion a fresh work. Through instructive discussions and poetry reading, participants will learn about blackout poetry, then be guided through a process to create their own blackout poems. This playful poetic form does not require any prior creative writing experience or knowledge of poetry.
