Description

Love music? Join us for this fun, interactive series about how music works—no experience needed. Led by finalists for The Syracuse Orchestra’s next Music Director, each session will focus on a unique musical theme – from fairy tales and folk tunes to jazz influences and the sounds of freedom. You’ll learn basic music concepts while discovering cool connections between music and storytelling. Get a behind-the-scenes peek too at upcoming concerts from people who developed the programs and will be conducting!

This session will discuss fairy tales in music and introduce essential music concepts like rhythm, melody, and harmony to provide a foundation for appreciating music of all types. The presentation will focus on how musical elements illustrate stories, from Mother Goose to Shakespeare. This class is the perfect prelude to the “Fairy Tales” concert program, which Chanu will conduct on September 27 & 28.
