Description
Multiple lines of evidence show that human activities are the chief cause of global warming, and it is this warming that drives many secondary effects we lump together as “climate change.” This talk will review the evidence, explain the mechanisms behind warming, and consider some of warming’s consequences. For perspective, we’ll view current climate change in the context of even more dramatic changes that have occurred naturally throughout geologic time. Our present situation is indeed just the beginning of climate modification that will be important not only for humans, but for the entire global ecosystem.
