In August, 1920, the U.S. passed the 19th amendment to the Constitution: “The right to vote shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex.” While this was not the first time women were granted the right to vote nor did it bring the right to vote to all women, the 19th amendment was an historically important step in the crusade for equal rights. We’ll look at the movement leading up to the amendment and the continuing efforts.
