After the formative years of the 1930s, motion pictures matured and came of age in the next two decades. In this class we will examine the movie masterpieces from the 1940s and 1950s including films from the USA, Italy, France, Japan and others. We will start with the American classic Citizen Kane, and move around the world, finishing with the beginning of the French New Wave masterpiece The 400 Blows.
