Description

A woman falls through a hole in the sky. The devil wanders around the Hudson Valley, NY. A frontiersman rides a lightning bolt. A steel-driver challenges a new machine. A president never lies. All of these are part of a rich American heritage of stories that are a fun and intriguing window into American culture at different times in our history. Some are myths, some more legendary perhaps based on a real person, and some are definitely hero/heroine tales using a known person to illustrate a lesson or value. We’ll hear and analyze some stories, but not kill the enjoyment, and have some fun as we look at ourselves over time through our stories and cherished tales.
