Description
This course will take a close look at these two important figures in the history of the religions of the world–comparing and contrasting them especially in terms of their biographies and the stories that have grown up around them. Both are paradigmatic and sacred figures for their respective religions, and both function there as central and primary symbols pointing to different understandings of both the sacred and what constitutes spiritual maturity or salvific goals.
