Join the Syracuse Orchestra’s Principal Clarinetist for a deep dive into one the greatest masterpieces of American music—Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, which will be performed by the orchestra on November 14th. You will hear about the history of the piece, its innovative form and masterful orchestration, and will watch some video excerpts of the original production with the Martha Graham Dance Company. Allan will also focus on Copland’s sophisticated use of rhythm and how a conductor holds the orchestra together, as you learn to conduct along with the beat yourself!
